Finneytown Local School District

Finneytown High School 50th Anniversary

The Finneytown High School will celebrate its Golden Jubliee in September, 2009.

The Anniversary Committee has been working hard since November 2008 to make this a special event. We have incorporated our events into the Homecoming celebration week.   All events are open to all alumni, past and present faculty and the Finneytown/Springfield Township community.

The land was purchased on March 21, 1956.  A bond issue to cover the capital improvements that included the 24-acre site for the Junior-Senior High school was approved by voters in 1955. Designed by Woodie Garber and Associates, Architects, the high school campus was the first “open classroom” style campus in the Cincinnati area.  This design allowed the district to remain flexible in coping with the rapidly growing population.  Finneytown High School was opened in 1959.

We are looking for people like you to help us provide the dollars we need to create a celebration of Finneytown High School with the community. Finneytown Schools are the community.  We need your partnership to join your friends and neighbors in supporting the 50th Anniversary of the Finneytown High School.

We are offering a weekend of valuable community building activities on September 24-26, 2009.  There will be the traditional Finneytown Homecoming Parade on Thursday, September 24. A Memorabilia wall, booths, games and refreshments at a Tailgate party before the Homecoming Football Game on Friday, September 25. And the weekend culminates in the Hall of Fame Induction/Anniversary Banquet.

Make sure to register your alumni infomation at our Alumni Database.

Volunteers Needed

The Anniversary committee is in full swing but can use a lot of help.  Currently we have 6 active members and each person is in charge of a committee.  We have our monthly chairperson meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at the moment.  Each committee will be having their own meetings during the month and those will revolve around the volunteer’s schedules.  Please take a moment and review the committees and contact the chairperson to the left to volunteer.

Committees Responsibilities:
Events: Parade, Tailgate Party, Golf Outing, Banquet.
Alumni:  Locating and contacting as many alumni as possible, invitations, Tours.
History: Locating, acquiring, cataloging, storing, returning Memorabilia.  Creating Memory Wall.
Public Relations: Communicating with local media outlets about meetings and events.
Sponsorship: Getting local businesses and personal donations.

We are in need of a Chairperson for the sponsorship committee.  If you are interested, please contact Brian Watson as soon as possible.
Any time that you have to donate will be welcomed and appreciated.  We are trying to make this a week to remember and to show our appreciation to the school district.
