Gifted Meeting for Parents

Posted on: May 24, 2018

Hello Finneytown Families,                                                                                                                5/24/18

We have been looking at our model to support students identified as gifted. We are currently serving students 3-6 in math and with a workshop class. Some of the laws have changed and so have the options. It is time to make needed changes.

We would like to invite you to join us on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Secondary Campus Media Center. We are very excited about the future of Gifted Education in Finneytown. Mrs. Smith and Mr. Dukes from Whitaker have been instrumental in working with Dr. Banks, Mrs. Moss and me to work through the changes in both the law and the needs of our students. We will update you and give you some information to take with you. After the meeting, all of this will be posted on the webpage.

We plan to expand our services within grades 3-6 and into the upper grades. We already offer advanced and AP classes at the Secondary Campus. These changes will help us better support our students with accelerated curriculum needs. It will also allow us to better serve a broader spectrum of our students.

We hope you can join us. If you have a student who has been identified as gifted, you will want to be at this meeting. It will be a short meeting. We must finish before 7:00 pm because the Board meeting will begin the open forum time. We hope to see you there.

Respectfully,

Dr. Laurie Banks, Director of Student Services

Mrs. Deana Moss, Curriculum Coordinator

Mrs. Terri Noe, Superintendent
