Dear Finneytown Families,

At Brent Elementary School, this is one of our favorite times of the year – the time to register incoming kindergartners for next fall. On Thursday, March 2, we’re holding kindergarten registration from 3:30-6 p.m. in the Brent Office. Registration can also happen at the Finneytown Board Office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. only.  Please schedule an appointment to meet with Mrs. Schnur.

This year we’re very excited to continue offering full-day kindergarten. Our program is academically rich and developmentally appropriate – meaning it is designed to be nurturing and supportive but also to build the strong intellectual and emotional foundation children need to be successful throughout school. Brent Elementary, with an entire student body of early learners – since we’re a K-2 school – is passionately focused on young children and foundational learning experiences.

Here’s what you need to know to register: To enter kindergarten this fall, your child must be age 5 by Aug. 1, 2017, and must attend school in the district where you as parents or guardians reside. When you come to registration, you will need to bring these things:

  • Your child’s official birth certificate, which must have a raised seal.

  • An updated immunization record on a doctor’s office stationery.

  • Your current Duke Energy bill, addressed to the parent/guardian at a Finneytown address.

  • Custody papers, if applicable.

  • Proof of residence in the Finneytown Local School District, which must include ONE of the following:

    • An apartment lease, which must include dates of lease and names of the child and parents or guardians.

    • Mortgage statement or payment book, which must include names of parents or guardians and Finneytown address.

    • Hamilton County property tax bill, which must include names of parents or guardians and Finneytown address.

    • Title/deed for Finneytown property, which must include names of parents or guardians and Finneytown address.

If you do not have one of the four items listed above to prove residence in Finneytown, please call Patti Schnur at the Finneytown Administrative Offices, 728-3700, before you attend registration. The registration process cannot begin without the documents listed above. On registration day, you’ll be asked to complete several medical/emergency-contact forms as well. You may wish to bring along phone numbers and addresses for physicians, dentists, emergency contacts, etc.

Thank you in advance for bringing all the above to registration. Equally important, please bring your highest hopes and dreams for your son or daughter. I assure you we at Brent will do our best to help make them come true.

Very sincerely,

John Mattingly, Jr.
