Dear Brent Families,

Please visit our Wall of Honor!  Thank you to all of our Veterans for their service!   Our students have a lot of pride when looking at all of the names on the Red, White, and Blue Stars.  Please see the link below for this week's The Brent Beat!

The Brent Beat 11.12.15

Childcare will be available in the library during both nights. Please arrive a few minutes early to sign your child in and arrive on schedule to your child’s classroom.  There will be High school students there to entertain the children. However, parents are still needed to assist in the library.  If you are able to help for an hour during either day, please contact Sara Meale at or 476-3817 or online at  Any amount of time you can help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your help.  Childcare is provided by Family Involvement…Together Everyone Achieves More!!

The district theme of the month is Healthy Choices! Healthy choices include taking care of yourself but also making good choices in general.  I will be visiting Kindergarten classes this month to talk about how important choices are.  Students will learn about taking care of themselves and what it means to make good choices.

· The recommended amount of sleep for children ages 5-8 is 10-12 hours per night

· One can of soda contains around 10 teaspoons of sugar and has no nutritional value

· Childhood obesity has tripled over the past three decades. Take charge by making lifestyle changes for you and your family!

1. Encourage children to be active rather than watching TV or playing video games

2. is a great website to visit for fun ideas to keep children healthy

3. Allow children to be a part of healthy choices while grocery shopping

4. Be an example for your child(ren)!

Thank you!!

School buildings affect how students learn and how they behave.  They also affect home values and a community's image.  Get an update on the condition of our schools, our enrollment trends and the opportunities and challenges facing our district at a community forum on facilities, Wed., Nov. 18, 7 p.m., at the PAC.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Book Fair!  There will be a special preview day on Grandparents Day (Nov. 24) for family members hoping to buy books as holiday gifts, but the main Book Fair will run for the entire week after Thanksgiving, Nov. 30-Dec. 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We hope that you can join us on Family Night, Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  There will be prize giveaways and more! Please refer to the AM Kindergarten, PM Kindergarten, and First and Second Grade letters that were sent home in last week’s Thursday Folders, regarding Nov. 24th Grandparents and Special Friends Day at Brent.  We are excited to continue on with the tradition!  There is also links to these on the Brent Website Blog.

Penny Round-Up is coming to a close.  Pick up will be after Thanksgiving!  Thank you to all participating families and students.  This round-up for Brent will go towards the purchase of books for the library.  Send those pennies in and keep your kids’ reading!  The money (no silver coins and no rolls of coins, please) goes towards this goal, and the class with the most pennies will receive a special reward!
