PSAT – (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) – This is a practice test for the SAT
The 2009 PSAT/NMSQT test date is Wednesday, October 14.
Students are not required to take this test, but it is recommended for those who plan to attend a 4 year college or university. Testing is available to sophomores and serves as a practice test only.
JUNIORS who take this test are competing for National Merit Scholarship Money.
Students will sign up with their English teacher if they wish to take this test. The fee is $13.00.
The following website will give you additional information.

SAT and ACT – Both of these tests are used for admissions to 4 year colleges and universities. We recommend that students take both of these tests, then re-take the one that they score higher on. The highest scores are what the universities use when reviewing applications. Please begin taking these tests during your JUNIOR year of high school.
PARENTS...you can purchase practice books for each of these tests at one of the local bookstores. The more your student practices these tests, the better chance they have of improving their scores!
SAT – (Scholastic Aptitude Test) – We highly recommend exploring the website, as information including testing dates and registration is included. We also encourage you to sign up for the question of the day and check out the essay prompts!

2009-10 Test Dates and Registration Deadlines
Important Information for All Test-Takers
- Sunday administrations usually occur the day after each Saturday test date, for students who cannot test on Saturday due to religious observance. For the test administration on October 10, the Sunday test date has been moved to October 18 to avoid conflict with the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah.
- The Language Tests with Listening are offered only in November.
- Deadlines for international test-takers are given below the tables for U.S. students.
- The Question-and-Answer Service (QAS) is offered only on the Saturday test dates in October and January, and for Saturday, Sunday, and school-based testing dates in May.
- The Student Answer Service (SAS) is available only on the test dates for which QAS is not offered—those in November, December, March, and June. It is also available for Sunday and school-based testing dates in October and January.

AP Testing – (Advanced Placement)
AP Exams are rigorous, multiple-component tests in 37 subjects that are administered at high schools each May. High school students can earn college credit, placement, or both for qualifying AP Exam grades. Each AP Exam has a corresponding AP course and provides a standardized measure of what students have learned in the AP classroom.
In May 2008, more than 1.6 million high school students at over 17,000 schools worldwide took AP Exams. The majority of U.S. high schools currently participate in the AP Program, and more than 90 percent of four-year U.S. colleges and universities grant credit or placement for qualifying AP Exam grades.
2010 AP Exam schedule
The 2010 AP Exams will be administered over two weeks in May: May 3 through 7 and May 10 through 14. Coordinators are responsible for notifying students when and where to report for the exams. Early testing or testing at times other than those published by the College Board is not permitted under any circumstances.
