5 Things You Should Know about School Delays and Closures

Posted on: January 11, 2016

We can only be in denial so long. Winter is here, and delays and closures are possible. Here's a quick take on what you need to know.

  1. Families and staff will be notified of delays and closings by an automated call, television news and the Finneytown web site.

  2. In the case of a delay, a.m. kindergarten, a.m. extended care and a.m. Champions will be cancelled for the day, along with all before-school programs.

  3. In the case of a delay, breakfast will not be served at Brent Elementary but will be served at Whitaker Elementary and the Secondary Campus.

  4. District administrators will make every effort to make and communicate decisions on closings or delays by 5:30 a.m. or earlier.

  5. If classes are cancelled, there is no district transportation for students who attend out-of-district schools or programs. If students use a private service (like UTS), parents should contact that carrier to find out if there is service.
