Posted on: April 17, 2017

Whitaker Elementary fourth-grade teacher Carol Madsen Miller left a basketball legacy during her playing days at Xavier University. It's being recognized with her state's highest honor for her sport.

Twice named the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Player of the Year, Mrs. Miller led Xavier women to their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She still holds school records for the most points scored in a single game (46), the highest points per game career average (19.3), highest career free-throw percentage (.852), and the most three-point goals in a game (9).

Before college, Mrs. Miller was a standout player at Reading High School, where she was a three-time All-State selection and made many All-American squads.

Mrs. Miller will be inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame on May 20 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The Finneytown Local School District congratulates her on this exceptional and well-deserved honor.
