Finneytown Schools win state approval of safety plans

Posted on: December 7, 2016

Finneytown Local Schools pours hours of behind-the-scenes effort into safety planning and emergency preparedness. This week it paid off with state approval of safety plans for all three schools and the Administrative Offices.

As mandated by state law, each building's emergency management plans must include safety plans, floor plans, site plans and emergency contact information. Local safety services departments have helped the district develop and evaluate all its emergency management plans, which align with best professional practices in safety planning. State approval only comes after the plans have been reviewed by Ohio Homeland Security.

While state approval is good for three years, the Finneytown Local School District is continually evaluating, testing and updating its safety planning.

Compliance with state safety/emergency planning standards is a hard-earned goal. The district sends a special thanks to the Springfield Township Police Department and Fire Department, along with parents, community members and staff for their help in earning this important credential.
