High School Athletes Visit Brent

Posted on: September 23, 2016

Play fair. Don't be mean. Respect your teachers. Be a good sport. That's some of the advice senior-high athletes told the little guys and girls at Brent Elementary.

It was a chance to celebrate Homecoming Week and to reinforce the schoolwide theme at Brent: Be respectful, responsible, safe and problem-solvers.

Brent Principal John Mattingly interviewed standout soccer player Jesse Cobbs, who told the students he listens to his coaches, treats opponents the way he'd like to be treated, and apologizes quickly when he's in the wrong. His actions fit perfectly with the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program Brent follows.

Afterwards, the big guys formed a human tunnel and the little guys passed through for high-fives -- and a chance to hug the Finneytown Wildcat.
