Intel Awards $25,000 Prize to Finneytown Secondary School

Posted on: October 12, 2015

Finneytown is one of only 10 schools nationally to receive the award. It was nominated by 2008 Finneytown alumnus James Wiles.

Each year, Intel sponsors the contest and allows its retail stores to nominate school districts. Micro Center 71 in Sharonville was the local store nominating Finneytown Schools. In the past it has won runner-up awards of $2,500 for local school districts, but this is the first year it's won the $25,000 grand prize. The secondary building will use the award for safety updates and other technology improvements.

Secondary Principal Sally Thurman, Superintendent Tyrone Olverson, Director of Instructional Technology Al Bolton and School Board Member Jim Dickerson accepted the award at an Oct. 11th ceremony.
