Thank You and Congratulations to Connie Warren

Posted on: May 13, 2016

For 19 years, Connie Warren has shared her love of books -- and young people -- with Finneytown Schools. Thank you, Connie, and congratulations for being chosen Support Staff Member of the Month for June!

Calm, kind, helpful -- those are the words students and staff alike use to describe Connie. Her connection to Finneytown started as a parent and volunteer. Her career with Finneytown started as a library aide at Cottonwood Elementary, then on to Whitaker Elementary and, for the last two years, at the Secondary Campus Media Center.

As she retires at the end of this school year, Connie says she hopes she'll be remembered for a caring attitude and positive interactions with staff and students. Her legacy at Finneytown is firmly in place. She has modeled dedication and professionalism, and leaves in her wake new generations of enthusiastic readers.

"Connie is eager and willing to do any library task, however menial. She actually loves some of the jobs that others would find boring and repetitive," says Lara Walker, secondary media specialist. "I will miss Connie greatly next year, but she assures me that she will come back as a volunteer to continue working on some of her favorite projects, and that makes me very happy."

The daughter of an Air Force veteran, Connie was born on an Army base in Okinawa, Japan, and moved around the world with her family during her childhood. During her fifth-grade year, her family settled in Fairborn, Ohio, near Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Connie graduated from Fairborn High School and went on to earn degrees from Lincoln College and the University of Akron.

Connie loves to travel and sing in her church choir, and says her hobbies are cross-stitching, quilting and -- surprise! -- reading.

Thank you for all you have given to Finneytown, Connie. We wish you many happy days in retirement.
