The Sue Hummer 2016 Founder's Day Service Project

Posted on: January 13, 2016

Here's a chance to do two good deeds with one action -- help financially struggling students attend their high-school prom, and honor the memory of Sue Hummer, a tireless Finneytown volunteer and regional PTA leader.

To honor Mrs. Hummer, who passed away in October, the Hamilton County Council of PTAs renamed their annual service project in her name. Now in her honor, families can provide gently used prom dresses and accessories, pre-paid Visa cards or financial donations to help young women in the Tristate attend their high-school proms.

Kenzie's Closet -- named for St. Ursula Academy student Makena "Kenzie" Comisar, who was killed in an auto accident before she could attend her prom -- provides a boutique of dresses and accessories, and allows financially struggling female students to choose prom outfits at no cost. In 2014, 420 young women were served.

Finneytown families may drop off donations at the Finneytown Administrative Offices, 8916 Fontainebleau Terrace, or contact Joyce Johnson, Secondary PTA Delegate, at joycejohnson@finneytown.org.
