Finneytown Student Wins Scholarship through ArtsConnect

Alicia Ramirez of Finneytown Local School District was awarded The ArtsConnect STAR Scholarship. She attended the ArtsConnect Kids Camp over the past two summers and exhibited the special character traits that exemplify the STAR Award Program. Alicia showed strong creativity in her artwork and imaginative play. She respected the views and suggestions from other campers and communicated her opinions with others in a meaningful and mature way. Additionally, she expressed her loyalty to her friends and teammates while displaying the ability to lead with creative group projects. ”We are very proud of Alicia and look forward to seeing where her creativity and leadership takes her this summer,” Dr. Katherine Smith, ArtsConnect Education Director, said of Alicia.

The ArtsConnect STAR Scholarship is awarded to one student artist in the ArtsConnect Camp who embodies the spirit of creativity, respect, communication, kindness, teamwork, a fun-loving attitude towards art, trying new experiences and sharing with others who may be different than themselves. At the conclusion of each session of the Camp, counselors and the Education Director makes recommendations for the child they feel best exemplifies the character traits ArtsConnect fosters. The scholarship, funded by a generous anonymous donor, is valid for full tuition of camp the following season that the award is given. This is the second year ArtsConnect has awarded the STAR Scholarship.
