Finneytown High School senior Phillip Reinhart has been selected to receive the Distinguished Finalist medallion in the 2012 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards for his outstanding volunteer work. He was chosen by state-level judges as one of the top eight runners-up in this year’s program in Ohio.
Phillip raised awareness and more than $8,000 to support needy African villages through the Village Life Outreach Project with his “Learn the Life” week-long program at the Finneytown High School. Phillip coordinated activities each day that were meant to mimic life in an African village, including a famine.
Based on the number of volunteer hours indicated on his application last fall, Phillip has qualified for the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
“Contributions like Phillip’s make our communities, and our entire nation, stronger,” said Mr. Jack Fisher, Finneytown High School principal. “This is a great honor for Phillip. He is an exemplary role model for his peers.”
