Nia McCormick brought so much to Finneytown High School as a student, athlete and friend. Now the University of Rio Grande is thrilled to enroll her.

In addition to scoring 1,000 career points, Nia set Finneytown's single-game scoring record with 35 points. She average 18.1 points per game her senior year, and 18.5 points per game for her career. At her signing, Rio Grande head women's basketball coach David Smalley told Nia, "We'd like to ditto everything you did in high school."

Dave Wolferst, who coached Nia in both basketball and volleyball, called her "an all-around fantastic basketball player" who is extremely adaptable. "She is one of the fiercest competitors I've ever worked with in basketball," he said.
