Marching Band takes top rating at OMEA State Finals!

Posted on: October 31, 2016 12:00 am

The amazing Finneytown Marching Wildcats topped off a stellar season Sunday with a Superior rating at state finals. Finneytown was the only CHL school to receive that rating. A huge crowd from Finneytown cheered them on!

Finneytown was one of only five Class B bands competing across the state Sunday to receive the Superior rating. The band captured first place in Class B at every contest they attended this year, in addition to being named Best Colorguard, Best Percussion and Best Visual at multiple contests. At the Loveland Marching Band Contest, the Marching Wildcats were named Reserve Grand Champion, and they were ranked third out of 23 bands at the Tecumseh Marching Band Contest.

The band's accomplishments are even more noteworthy because it competed against school districts two and three times its size, with larger staffs and budgets.

Congratulations, thanks and hugs to our Superior band members and our Superior staff -- Band Director Michael Kennedy, Assistant Director Brad Delaney, Woodwind Director Stefanie Schneider, Color Guard Directors Laura Carroll and Becca Wapinsky, Visual Director Andrew Sersion, Front Ensemble Director Samuel Frank and Percussion Director Andrew Hartman.
