This year, 331,000 students from around the world competed for the highly coveted Scholastic Art and Writing Awards this year. Finneytown senior Annalise Barber's hauntingly handsome "Phantom" captured a Silver Award at the national level.

Annalise is finishing off her high school career with a host of honors, including winning two Gold Key awards, a Silver Key award and an Honorable Mention at the state level in the Scholastic awards program, and having her painting, "The Two Annalises" chosen for the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibit in Columbus. Last year, Annalise was a Top 25 winner in the Governor's Art Exhibit as well as a Gold Winner in Scholastic.

Annalise's work is elegant and evocative, and spans across ceramics, drawing, painting and felted work.

Congratulations, Annalise. You have made your family, teachers, high school, district and community proud.
