Entries for this year’s PTA Reflections contest are due today. The theme is “Heroes Around Me.” Entries are to be turned in to Mrs. Ficke.

 

Students, have you ever wanted to throw a ball at a teacher? Teachers, have you ever wanted to throw a ball at a student? This Thursday is your chance! The first annual Teachers vs. Students Dodgeball Game will go down this Thursday afternoon. Sign up in the library. To participate, please bring in an item on the Thanksgiving food drive list. Any questions, please ask Mrs. Walker in the library. Let the games begin!

 

There are just 4 days left in the Jersey Mike’s House fundraiser! Use the coupons that your deans gave you to raise money for the House System and support one of our biggest supporters, Jersey Mike’s!

 

This Friday and Saturday, come see the musical The Lion King at Whitaker Elementary.  Tickets are only $3.00. Showtimes are Friday at 7:30, Saturday at 2:00 and 5:00.  Come support Finneytown Theater!

Congratulations to our Marching Band staff and students for all they accomplished this year: Two Grand Champions, MidStates Prelims First Place, Best Overall General Effect and Music for MidStates Prelims and Finals, and a 4th Place Overall Finish in Midstates Finals Saturday evening, to be ranked as one of the top five bands across Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky!


There will be a Finneytown Literary Magazine meeting today after school in Mr. Budday’s room, 107. If you are interested in being on the editing staff, please stop by!

From the Middle School ghouls and goblins in room 312, a howling THANK YOU to Mr. Pierce's high school students for being wicked cool guides and a ghoulish THANK YOU to everyone who came to our Haunted House! Because of your generosity, we were able to collect 119 canned goods that will be donated to the PTA Thanksgiving Food Drive. Happy Halloween, and may bat barf be with you!


Tonight is Treat the Hungry. Walk your chosen street (or streets) in Finneytown to pick up canned foods and other donated items to bring to to the MP from 6-9 in order for us to make a donation to the Freestore Food Bank of Cincinnati.

All students are invited to sign up to participate in our Treat the Hungry food drive. Attention HS students: You should have received an email with the Homecoming Court ballot. Ballots are due by 2 p.m. today. Oaks students can pick up a paper ballot after school today in the attendance office.


Today is another chance to earn spirit points for your House! Come to the MS Girls’ Volleyball game at 4:30 to cheer on our Wildcats!

Jostens will meet with the class of 2019 today in the PAC from 9-9:30. There will also be a meeting in the PAC today from 9:45-10:15 for anyone from the class of 2021 who wishes to purchase a class ring.

The Homecoming Dance will be held on October 6th from 8-11:30 in the MP. Tickets are $10 and will be on sale until Oct 3rd during lunch in the MP and after school in the Attendance Office.


This year’s annual PTA art competition marks the 50th year of the program. There are 6 different art categories including visual arts, photography and literature. There are forms in the library, or you can go to www.FinneytownPTA.org to download the paperwork and get more information. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 13th, and the theme is “Heroes Around Me.”


Although the wildcats suffered a hard blow from CHCA, legendary defender, Jacob Huff, returned to the pitch after a devastating loss of an eyebrow. Final score 4-1


The Ladycats went home with heavy hearts this Saturday after losing to Cincy Spirit. Eager to get back their momentum, they play away on Monday against Cincinnati Christian @ 5:00.


Drum Major Jay-con Huff led your Marching Wildcats to victory this past Saturday at their first competition of the season. The tempo was bumpin' and hats were flying as the Wildcats received best percussion and overall Grand Champion. Shoutout to Mr. Samuel Fronk.


Cross country had an awesome race on Saturday. MS Boys finished with great times and the MS Girls were glad not to run in the rain! Jessica Sanders got 4th for HS Girls, and Abby Jeffries placed in the top 30!

Attention HS students: due to a technology fail, homecoming ballots will be distributed during Mentor Group on Monday. Oaks students can pick up a ballot after school today or Monday in the attendance office.

 

ATTENTION ALL STUDENT DRIVERS: Student parking permits are mandatory for the 2018/2019 school year.  Before a parking pass can be issued to you, your student fees MUST BE PAID or arrangements must be made with the Treasurer’s Office.  Students parking on our campus lot without a permit will be subject to disciplinary action. Please see Ms. Lalley in Room 220 to purchase your parking pass for $55.00 by the end of the day today. All student drivers must have their parking pass displayed on their vehicle in their designated parking space.  

 

Any student who has immunization records for the nurse needs to turn them in as soon as possible.

Mentor teachers will keep track of everyone who participates, and the House with the most participation will receive the most points. Show your school spirit, Wildcats!

 

On Monday, Oct 1, Jostens will meet with the class of 2019 in the PAC from 9-9:30. Also on Monday, there will also be a meeting in the PAC from 9:45-10:15 for anyone from the class of 2021 who wishes to purchase a class ring.

 

There will be a brief Girls’ Basketball meeting at 3:10 on Monday in the gym.

 

The Homecoming Dance will be held on October 6th from 8-11:30 in the MP. Tickets are $10 and will be on sale until Oct 3rd during lunch in the MP and after school in the Attendance Office.

 

This year’s annual PTA art competition marks the 50th year of the program. There are 6 different art categories including visual arts, photography and literature. There are forms in the library, or you can go to www.FinneytownPTA.org to download the paperwork and get more information. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 13th, and the theme is “Heroes Around Me.”

 

The Varsity Football team takes on the hillbillies of Taylor tonight at Taylor. Be there or be square.

Thanks to all who attended the Girls’ Volleyball games yesterday! The spirit points winner is Ebenezer House, followed by a tie for 2nd place (Kopke & Clark), a tie for 3rd place (Telford & Pringle), with PEM in last place. Our next opportunity to win House points for attendance is the Girls’ Soccer game on Monday, Sept 24 at 7 p.m. Go Wildcats!


Any 8th grade student who still has a 7th grade math textbook from last year needs to return it immediately! We do not have enough textbooks for this year’s 7th grade students.

Please see Ms. Lalley in Room 220 to purchase your parking pass for $55.00 by Friday Sept. 28. All student drivers must have their parking pass displayed on their vehicle in their designated parking space.

Cross country had a muddy slip and slide at the Hamilton meet on Tuesday! Amy Helmes and Lina Bush ran straight through the storm as the rain poured. Amy Helmes finished 21st in MS girls and Jessica Sanders got 8th in HS.

With a goal by Delaney Murphy & an assist by Cami Kershner, the Girls’ Soccer team shut out Taylor 1-0. This is the second shut out of the week with the legendary Maggie Traubert in goal.

 

Finneytown Girl’s Volleyball gave it their all against the Hills this week (Indian Hill & Seven Hills) but couldn’t make the climb to dub nation. Come out and support their home game against Madeira @ 6:30 in the gym.

Tonight's football game will be a BLACK-OUT!  Wear black and show your support for our football team. There will be students painting football stripes under students’ eyes during the game. All students are invited and encouraged to attend. Let’s show Gallatin County what Finneytown school spirit looks like!

 

Please join us at the football home opener tonight at 7 p.m. for a silent auction to raise funds for our cheer program. The silent auction will be located inside the admission gates near the Wildcat Cafe. Silent auction items will include Reds tickets, Thirty-One, LuLaRoe, and some additional fun gift baskets. We hope to see you there & we appreciate your support! Go Wildcats!!
