Festive floats always make the homecoming parade special

Finneytown Local Schools have a host of wonderful traditions, but none is more community-minded than Homecoming. It's a time for students, parents, residents and staff to come together and remember what makes this such a special, welcoming place. Here's what's happening Sept. 28-30.

Students take their place on floats as the Homecoming parade begins.

The weekend kicks off with the popular Homecoming parade, 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 28. The parade forms at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 703 Compton Road, then turns right on Christopal Drive, left on Woodview Drive, right on Reynard Avenue, right on Winton Road and left on Fountainebleau Terrace to the Secondary Campus. Join the football team, coaches, cheerleaders and student body for a pep rally and bonfire.

Festivities continue on to Friday, Sept. 29, with a community tailgate and celebration at the Secondary Campus. There will be food, children's games and a performance by the award-winning Marching Wildcats band at 6 p.m. The football game against Taylor High School follows at 7 p.m. with the crowning of the king and queen at half-time.

The 'Fairy Tales'-themed Homecoming dance takes place Saturday, Sept. 30, 8 p.m. in the MP. (FHS students can buy tickets during mentor group during Homecoming week.)

Be part of a wonderful weekend of traditions that date back to 1959!
